Team MMUx wins inaugural EY Young Technology Professional Challenge 2022 with a solution to promote sustainability

Team MMUx bagged the top prize at the inaugural EY Young Technology Professional Challenge (YTPC) 2022 with its winning solution, Teru-Teru, a crowd-sourced flood prediction and alerting system.

Team MMUx bagged the top prize at the inaugural EY Young Technology Professional Challenge (YTPC) 2022 with its winning solution, Teru-Teru, a crowd-sourced flood prediction and alerting system.

This year’s EY YTPC focused on solutions to help a city municipality achieve its sustainability goals.

As the winner of EY YTPC 2022, Team MMUx comprising students from Multimedia University: Lim Min Ying, Jeffrey Quek Shue Yew, Teh Ghee Ang and Ng Jin Yang, will receive a cash prize of RM12,000 and paid internships of no less than eight weeks or conditional offers of employment at EY  Malaysia[1].

Team MMUx’s winning solution was selected based on the EY YTPC judging criteria that focuses on three key areas of transformation namely, innovation, technology and people. The participating teams were assessed on various aspects during the course of the challenge: ideation and innovation, realization and build, their business case presentations and teaming.   

The first runner-up, Team Data Phantom, comprising students from International Islamic University Malaysia:  Mohammad Hakeem, Abdul Rashid and Muhammad Syafiq, will receive a cash prize of RM8,000. Their solution, Greeyner, is a residential waste management solution. The second runner-up, Team Four Runners, comprising students from the University of Nottingham Malaysia: Tan Ming Jun, Soo Weng Kit, Chin Yaw Hon and UCSI University student Lee Mei Yan, will receive a cash prize of RM6,000. Their solution, Regreen, focuses on corporate sustainability adoption. Both teams will also be offered paid internships of no less than eight weeks or conditional offers of employment at EY Malaysia[2].

The EY YTPC participants had the unique opportunity to team and learn collaboratively through coaching sessions with experienced professionals from EY, SAP and Digital Penang, as they built their respective solutions on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) during the eight-week challenge.
