Sonia Bonfiglioli, President, Bonfiglioli Riduttori S.p.A.

Sonia Bonfiglioli knew the family business was where she belonged. Her father founded the Bonfiglioli Group in 1956, manufacturing compact gears for local factory machinery. Sonia shared her father’s passion for the company, and in 1992, after finishing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, she went to work for the family business and turned it into a global company.

With Sonia at the helm, the Bonfiglioli Group has grown into a leading international designer, producer and distributor of gearmotors, drive systems and gearboxes for a wide range of applications including agricultural machinery, boats and airport equipment. The Bonfiglioli Group has 14 production plants, employs more than 3,700 people, and maintains a network of more than 500 distributors around the world, exporting 80% of its products.

Under Sonia’s leadership, the business has also developed new products. The company makes the drives that motor wind turbines, something Sonia says is in line with their desire to innovate for a more sustainable future.
