Song Hoi-see, Founder and CEO, Plaza Premium Group

In the 1980s, Song Hoi-see traveled extensively for his job as an investment banker. He spent long hours in transit at international airports, trying to work in an uncomfortable seat. Song hated the experience, but it gave him an idea. He spotted a gap in the market for the world’s first independent airport lounge available to all passengers regardless of airline or flight class. In 1998, he launched the first Plaza Premium Lounge at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Today, Plaza Premium Group annually provides services for 14 million passengers at 160 locations in 44 international airports across 21 countries. The pay-to-use lounges offer shower facilities, Wi-Fi, resting areas and massage services for weary travelers. Under Song’s leadership, Plaza Premium Group has grown from one lounge to four core businesses comprising airport lounges, airport transit accommodation, VIP meet-and-greet services and airport dining outlets.
