For Irish business partners Peter Coppinger and Daniel Mackey, success is all due to teamwork. The pair were rivals as students, competing to build websites for pubs and restaurants in Cork. Once introduced, the two became friends and dropped out of college to join forces.
In the late 1990s, Daniel and Peter started a consultancy business developing e-commerce sites and databases. They soon had multiple projects underway, but they struggled to stay on top of the work and were frustrated by early project management applications. The pair decided to build a better application themselves and launched Teamwork.com in 2007.
Today, the company has 24,000 paying customers across 183 countries, employs 240 people and has a remote workforce in 18 countries. Its goal is to make teams efficient, organized and happy by providing a suite of integrated business software. Their clients include Disney, Spotify, PayPal and Netflix.
As for the future, Daniel and Peter are looking to maintain the 40% annual growth rate of recent years and hope to hit their turnover target of US$50m by the end of 2021.
