In the International Tax and Transaction Services team, you’ll help clients interpret and navigate the tax complexities of cross-border business and transactions while building your career.

 

What is International Tax and Transaction Services?

The International Tax and Transaction Services teams help multinational companies align their global tax position with their business strategy to maintain competitive advantage and provide long-term shareholder value. As a part of this diverse, dynamic and globally connected team, you’ll help clients interpret and navigate the tax complexities of cross-border business and transactions supporting organisations identify critical strategic tax issues and help manage global tax risks and exposure.
 
 

What could you be doing?

  • Work with a variety of EY clients across different sectors and industries, from small business, high net wealth individuals, large family offices, private equity firms to multinational organisations
  • Research relevant international tax treaties, legislation, regulations, case law or other guidance
  • Prepare first drafts of memoranda or emails to clients outlining technical analysis and recommendations relating to their international tax strategies
  • Assist in the design and implementation of complex cross-border acquisition and disposition structures
  • Provide advice on the future tax implications of proposed acquisition structures
  • Work on a due diligence project, collecting and analysing relevant financial and tax data, including setting up a data room for a major transaction
  • Review and maintain materials in the data room to identify issues that may affect the client
  • Assist with the preparation of a due diligence report
  • Assess and verify a client's tax attributes and support
  • Assist with review of legal documents in respect of a transaction from a tax perspective
  • Participate in meetings with clients, including calls with EY colleagues in foreign jurisdictions in relation to international taxation matters.

Your career journey in International Tax and Transaction Services

As a graduate, you’ll be part of our 12-month graduate development programme that has been developed for graduates in all service lines, and is focused on connection, learning and celebration.

The programme will provide you with the opportunity to network with your peers from other service lines and geographies. Running in parallel to your technical learning, you will develop leadership skills to become a successful graduate, and as you grow as a transformative leader.

As an International Tax and Transaction Services graduate, you’ll take part in:-

  • Weekly training on international and transaction tax topics and issues
  • Periodic Oceania-wide training in relation to key international and transaction tax developments
  • Consultant Tax programmes
  • Tax Graduate Camp

As an intern, after our company induction, you’ll start developing an understanding of how our International Tax and Transaction Services teams work and will be ready to work alongside teams on real client projects. You’ll meet other new interns from your office.

Your buddy and your counsellor will help you learn your way around the organisation, set your goals and plan your development while you’re here. You'll be well looked after with ongoing learning throughout the Internship Programme with sessions facilitated by our Learning and Development team, Campus Recruitment team and service line specific training. The Internship Programme is a great way to gain valuable audit experience, skills and networks to start building your career.
