Nikolay Garnev is EY's Managing Partner for the South Business Unit, Eastern and Southeastern Europe Central.

Nikolay joined EY in 2006 as a Principal, based in Bucharest, Romania, and shortly after that, in July 2007, he was made an Assurance Partner in the Bulgarian office. Having had extensive experience from another Big 4 company, Nikolay’s contribution to growth in the assurance practice in Bulgaria was significant. After a very successful and productive time in EY, in 2013 Nikolay was chosen to be a Country Managing Partner for Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania, and Kosovo. In 2022, he was invited to become the Managing Partner for EY’s Southern Cluster (Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Malta, Moldova, North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo). Between 2015 and 2022, he also served as the Risk Management Leader for CESA (Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe and Central Asia).

Nikolay has more than 25 years of experience working with international and local clients in a number of countries in Southeast Europe. His areas of expertise include audit, advisory, and transaction support services in many sectors, primarily banking, insurance, real estate, and energy. He has extensive experience in the implementation of the International Financial Reporting Standards and other regulatory frameworks.

Nikolay holds a master’s degree from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, Bulgaria. He is a fellow of the UK Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPA) in Bulgaria.
