Anne Kung

Instacom Engineering Sdn Bhd

The successful listing of Instacom Group Bhd in October 2012 marked the culmination of Anne Kung’s efforts in transforming Instacom Group Bhd into a leader in the local telecommunication infrastructure industry today.

Anne attended the London School of Economics and obtained a law degree. She later obtained her qualification as a chartered accountant from the ICAEW before returning to Sarawak where her first corporate achievement was the listing of Quality Concrete Holdings Berhad in 1996.

In 2004, Anne joined Instacom as a director. She set about organizing Instacom’s financial requirements as well as setting up processes and controls, prioritizing cash flow and securing much needed funding. In the space of 12 months, Instacom secured RM45 million in credit facilities which was to be the foundation that enabled Instacom to take on larger contracts.

Within 18 months of Anne’s joining, Instacom’s staff strength grew from 80 to almost 500. This was phenomenal growth and to meet expansion plans in a highly capital intensive industry, Anne convinced financiers to put up a RM200 million sukuk, and went on to secure contracts from all the telcos in Malaysia as well as multinational vendors.

In August 2013, RHB Research Institute named Instacom as one of Malaysia’s best small-cap companies.
