Dato’ Kho Kak Beng

Dato’ Kho Kak Beng is the founder, Chairman and Group Managing Director of KKB Engineering Berhad (“KKB”).

A self-starter from a poor family and with only a primary education, Dato’ Kho has overcome all challenges with sheer determination and hard work. His entrepreneurial spirit combined with over 52 years of hands-on experience have resulted in the elevation of his company from a sole proprietorship to its current public-listed status, with KKB’s market capitalisation of approximately RM550 million and the employment of over 700 personnel today.

KKB has since successfully diversified from steel fabrication to hot-dip galvanising, construction and the manufacturing of LPG cylinders and mild steel pipes (the first in Sarawak). KKB’s associate company, OceanMight Sdn Bhd is also licensed as an Approved Service Provider by PETRONAS. Dato’ Kho has since ventured into the hospitality industry and owns the three-star Abell Hotel in Kuching.

Accolades ranging from numerous personal State awards to others from Forbes Asia and MIRA are testament to his capability. His serious workaholic trait is well-known in the industry. Dato’ Kho’s philanthropy is evidenced in the countless charities that he has contributed to. Undeniably, his enthusiasm in entrepreneurship and nation-building is endless and continues to this day.
