Seah Kian Hoe

Seah Kian Hoe is the founder of Heng Hiap Industries Sdn Bhd. Coming from humble beginnings, Seah developed a strong work ethic at a very young age. After completing a degree in mechanical engineering and earning the Fulbright Research and Development Scholarship to continue his graduate studies, Seah began to focus on the recyclability of plastic and the commercialization of his innovations.

Seah’s socially responsible business practices and methods of production are highly acclaimed by many business and social leaders around the world. He is known for his innovative thinking and passion for continually seeking further knowledge and improvements for his plastics venture. For his extraordinary work in sustainable business and plastic recycling, Seah won the World 10 Outstanding Young Persons under the moral and/or environmental leadership category in Brazil in 2013.

The company, founded in 2002, is at the forefront of developing innovative recycling technologies. Conceived and developed locally, the company has rolled out a total of eight breakthrough technologies to date with 18 patents filed. Some unique features of smart plastics include electric conductive, bio plastics, fast cycle and anti-bacterial. Through thermal recycling, the company converts plastic scraps into new coal and new oil. The company exports to 22 countries worldwide and is accredited by international standards.
