Jasper Knol Bruins supports international companies during the sale and separation (Sell & Separate) of business units. He is also involved in his team's other services: Buy & Integrate and Value Creation & Reshaping Results.
He studied International & European Law at the University of Groningen and has worked at EY since 2014. Prior to this, he worked as a transaction specialist at other leading consulting firms, including five years in Australia.
“The current high market prices require more than just some financial engineering. You have to create value, in the long term. Many large organizations are therefore opting to restructure parts, such as splits. They will focus on what they do best. Because if you divide your money and attention across numerous focus areas, you actually lose everywhere. These times call for focus in order to invest and innovate.”
How Jasper is building a better working world
“There is a different sentiment around sales. Buying is for winners, selling for losers. Naturally, it's not as black and white as that, but you do have to deal with all kinds of emotions. Some see opportunities for growth, others fear for their jobs. A process like this also affects all kinds of aspects of the business. Employees, as well as processes, IT, transactions and important stakeholders, such as banks and board and supervisory board members. That makes this work complex, and therefore very challenging for me.”
