EY advised Maspex Group in the acquisition process of CEDC – a milestone deal in the CEE spirits industry

EY Polska acted as the advisor to Maspex Group on the acquisition of CEDC, Polish subsidiary of Roust group, which owns several brands including the renowned Żubrówka. A large group of dedicated EY professionals led by Marcin Drozdowski and Mikołaj Bokowy provided extensive advisory services for Maspex Group in the transaction that will lead to the creation of the largest Polish food group.

Maspex is the largest private Polish company in the food industry  and one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe. The company is a distinct leader on the market of juices, nectars and beverages in Poland and several countries in the region as well as a leader in manufacturing instant products in Central and Eastern Europe. Maspex is also a leader on the market of pasta, jams and sauces and a leading producer in the segment of ketchups, ready meals and vegetable preserves in Poland.

CEDC is a leader on the Polish vodka market with a market share of over 47% (by volume) and the largest importer of foreign spirits in our country. It has a portfolio of leading vodka brands such as: Żubrówka (a legendary Polish brand, volume no. 3 on the global vodka market), Soplica, Absolwent and Bols. It is also a distributor of, among others Grant’s, Glenfiddich, Metaxa, Jȁgermeister, Cointreau and Campari. 

As a result of the planned transaction, Maspex will become the leader of the vodka market in Poland and will expand its portfolio with other iconic Polish brands. The transaction will create the largest Polish food group with a turnover exceeding PLN 11 billion, employing over 9,200 people.  

Transaction is subject to the consent of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK).
