In 1967, María Elena Obando’s father founded Colombia’s first parcel delivery company. Twenty years later, Coordinadora was in trouble. As a devoted daughter, María joined her father’s business to help him turn it around.
Today, Coordinadora collects and delivers over 18 million packages a year in more than 1,200 destinations in Colombia and to more than 200 countries around the world. María’s ability to get the best out of people has been vital in forming good relationships with employees, customers and suppliers.
As President of Coordinadora, María is focused on supporting the development of Colombia’s e-commerce market. She wants the company to enable “large or small customers to make their shipments to all the corners of Colombia and to the whole world.” The company is constructing the first fully automated hub in Colombia, an innovation that María hopes will improve the quality of life for the company’s 4,800 employees.
