The activation ceremony of the EY Greater Bay Area Center of Excellence in Qianhai of Shenzhen, marks a significant milestone in EY Greater China Region's (EY) strategic determination to further deepen its business penetration in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and promote the development of Qianhai with innovation. Based on the “Six Connects in the GBA” structure, EY will continue to integrate its service advantages in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, and utilize its international horizon and local market expertise to help enterprises seize the opportunities from the opening-up and economic development in the GBA. At the same time, EY will leverage Qianhai as an important hub to accelerate the development of technological innovation and R&D businesses, developing Qianhai as an open regional innovation community.
The GBA is an important component of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan and the national economic development strategy, and it is also one of EY's key areas of business development. The GBA policies are driving the acceleration of the economic integration in the region. The deepening synergies among the systems, tariffs and jurisdictions of the three locations are providing opportunities for the flourishing development of modern service industries.
EY has launched the EY GBA Center of Excellence to step up its presence in the GBA, to contribute to the establishment of a quality service industry system to meet the needs of Qianhai.
Jack Chan, EY China Chairman and Greater China Regional Managing Partner, says: “Qianhai, regarded as a ‘special zone within a special zone’, has always upheld its strategic position of ‘relying on Hong Kong, serving the Mainland and opening up to the world’. Not only endowed with geographical advantages, Qianhai is also of national strategic importance. It is the growth driver of the GBA and the pilot demonstration area of Shenzhen with its huge investment potentials that attract capital, technology and talent.” Chan added that EY has continued to ramp up investment in innovation and launched the EY GBA Center of Excellence to give full play to the advantages of the “Six Connects in the GBA” strategic structure.
Under the guidance of plans such as the Qianhai Global Service Providers program, Qianhai is now actively attracting and cultivating a global service providers cluster, aiming to create an important producer services industry center of the Asia-Pacific region. Regarding Qianhai’s attractiveness to enterprises, William Huang, EY China South Managing Partner, says: “With a focus on innovation development, Qianhai is dedicated to fostering a business environment characterized by innovation, coordination, environmental friendliness, openness and sharing. This environment has attracted innovative enterprises and talented individuals who are committed to promoting growth and development. Modern services enterprises in the fields of finance, technology, logistics and information have thrived in Qianhai, working together to create a vibrant ecosystem in the GBA.”
Under the framework of the six service areas, EY focuses on technological developments, creating three major functional areas in the EY GBA Center of Excellence: a technology interaction and exhibition zone, technology application and R&D zone and the Cybersecurity Center. The top-notch engineering and R&D professionals at the EY GBA Center of Excellence are dedicated to co-creating with enterprises innovative solutions and navigating through pressing challenges.
At present, the build-up of the three functional areas is making steady progress. To support the development of GBA enterprises, more than 30 professionals specializing in artificial intelligence, big data, user interaction and blockchain have been working closely with industry players in the region to continuously exchange their successful experiences in enterprise transformation, accelerate the industrial application of FinTech, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent city and other advanced technologies, and provide industry-leading network security management and operation services for enterprises to solve their network security pain points. Leveraging the geographical and technological advantages of the GBA, the EY GBA Center of Excellence will continue to play a leading role in the regional innovation development.
Jasmine Lee, EY Hong Kong and Macau Managing Partner, says: “Qianhai of Shenzhen serves as a pivotal hub for cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, making it the prime location for Hong Kong's integration into the national development. Hong Kong enterprises can seize the innovative advantages in policy and regulation, taxation and commercial operations offered by Qianhai, while exploring broader development opportunities in the area. We will continue to promote high-quality collaboration between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, working together to develop the GBA.”
