Audit and consulting company EY Finland’s commitment and work to deliver on its sustainability agenda has reached a milestone as EY Finland’s Environmental Management System has been certified according to the ISO 14001:2015 standard in September 2022. 

The environmental management system has been established on a Nordic level together with other EY firms in Norway and Denmark during 2021 and 2022. To date, EY firms in the Nordics, including Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, have been certified according to the ISO 14001 standard. 

Globally, EY has committed to a science-based target that aims to reach a net zero level in greenhouse gas emissions by 2025 in line with the Paris Agreement of 1.5°C. EY Finland, together with other Nordic member firms, aims to reduce its emissions in the region by 40 percent in absolute terms across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2025 compared to a 2019 baseline of 14.8k metric tons of CO2 equivalent.

“Receiving the ISO 14001 certificate is a testament to our commitment to long-term environmental work. With the ISO standard, we ensure that we have a robust and well-structured management system in place to help us achieve our environmental goals, in particular our commitment to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2025”, says Mikko Äijälä, Country Managing Partner, EY Finland.

While implementing the environmental management system standard, we have identified areas where we can reduce our impact on the environment and climate. As a professional services company, our primary focus areas include business travel, energy consumption and waste.
