Mikko Äijälä is the Managing Partner at EY Finland and the head of Nordic Strategy and Transactions. Mikko joined EY in 2004 and is based in the EY Helsinki office in Finland.

Mikko has a master’s degree in accounting from the Turku School of Economics and Business Administration. Before joining EY, Mikko was part of the transaction advisory team at KPMG. He has also worked as a controller at Raisio Oyj and CFO at Turku Science Park Group.

Mikko has more than 20 years of extensive experience in both domestic and cross-border transaction and transformation advisory engagements.

How Mikko is building a better working world

The DE&I theme and work-life balance are close to Mikko’s heart, and during his leadership, EY Finland has been the official sponsor of Helsinki Pride for several years. Mikko supports various internal initiatives related to staff wellbeing, such as the EY hybrid working model, various staff benefits, and annual themed events. Mikko was involved in the Helsinki office move to new, more collaboration-enabling headquarters in the fall of 2023.
