JAKARTA, 13 May 2025. In a world defined by uncertainty, Indonesia’s entrepreneurs are stepping forward to shape what comes next, not only for their businesses, but also for the nation’s future. They are solving real problems, challenging the status quo, and proving that leadership rooted in meaningful purpose can create lasting impact. In this spirit, EY Indonesia proudly launches the Entrepreneur Of The Year™ (EOY) 2025 program to honor the visionaries helping Indonesia move forward with confidence.
Now in its 23rd year, the program continues to celebrate entrepreneurs who are not just adapting to change but leading it. This year’s theme, “The Shapers: Honoring Entrepreneurs Who Shape What’s Next,” recognizes those who lead with vision and clear purpose. Whether creating new markets, transforming communities, or redefining legacy industries, these entrepreneurs are reimagining what business leadership means in today’s Indonesia.
Peter Surja, EY Indonesia Country Managing Partner, says:
“This year’s theme, The Shapers: Honoring Entrepreneurs Who Shape What’s Next, embodies a deeply impactful sense of leadership, one rooted in values and discipline, creativity, and long-term thinking. These entrepreneurs shape their businesses thoughtfully, overcome challenges with unwavering resilience, and leave a lasting mark on their industries and communities. The Shapers are not just disruptors; they are architects of long-term value who drive purposeful transformation with clarity, commitment, and determination. Through the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ program, we are proud to celebrate those who help shape a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable future for Indonesia.”
As Indonesia navigates in a world characterized by shifting trends and changing geopolitical dynamics, these entrepreneurs will be vital in forging new pathways for growth, innovation, and societal progress. Their stories of perseverance and impact deserve to be recognized and serve as inspiration for the next generation of business leaders.
Who Can Apply and How Winners Are Selected
Nominations for the EOY 2025 program are now open. Entrepreneurs from all industries and sectors are invited to apply. Nominees must be Indonesian citizens who serve as founders, major shareholders, CEOs, or equivalent roles with direct responsibility for their company’s performance. Companies must have been operating in Indonesia for at least three years and submit three years of audited financial statements. Previous EOY finalists or alumni may also be re-nominated after a one-year interval.
Candidates will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges, including the 2024 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™ Indonesia winner and respected business and academic leaders. The evaluation process will focus on four key dimensions: Entrepreneurial Spirit, Purpose, Growth, and Impact. In addition, the panel will consider each entrepreneur’s commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices, efforts to promote inclusive leadership, and ability to create sustainable long-term value.
The EY EOY Indonesia 2024 Country Winners, Winston Utomo, Founder and CEO, and William Utomo, Co-Founder and COO, of PT Media Putra Nusantara, shared their views on the program:
“EY Entrepreneur Of The Year program is incredible, as entrepreneurship is the key for economic growth and the key to create lasting impact for Indonesia. In the end, entrepreneurship is about creating value and making sure the world is a better place before we are there.”
Winston and William Utomo represent a generation of entrepreneurs who combine purpose with bold execution, building platforms that empower others and create lasting social value. Finalists of the program not only gain national recognition but also become part of a broader global community of changemakers. The Indonesia country winner will go on to represent the nation at the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year™ 2026 in Monte Carlo, Monaco where leading entrepreneurs from across the globe compete for the world title, showcasing their achievements and impact on the global stage.
