Finance and Risk professional. Focused on excellent client service. Passionate about diversity and inclusion. Keen tennis player, motorcyclist and music enthusiast.

James first joined Ernst & Young LLP in 2001, becoming an Equity Partner in 2005. He serves as the Global Client Service Partner for several major UK insurance clients.

James has held several leadership roles within the EY organization – UK Financial Services (FS) Risk Leader, including sitting on the Risk Oversight Committee, Global Actuarial Leader, Actuarial Pillar Lead and UK FS DE&I Partner sponsor. He is an active member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, contributing to industry initiatives and seminars.

James was elected to the EY UK LLP Board in July 2025.

Prior to joining the EY organization, he served as the group CRO at a leading insurer; he also has experience in the UK, Europe and South Africa where he led projects focused on transactions, restructuring, capital and financial management.

James is a former council member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and current member of the Life Board.
