Dato’ Ir Muhamad Guntor Mansor Tobeng

One of the leading figures in the Malaysian renewable energy business today, Dato' Ir Muhamad Guntor Tobeng founded Gading Kencana Sdn Bhd, a renewable energy services company, together with Hasnah Awang in 1998. Recognising the potential of renewable energy in Malaysia, the founders have been steering the company steadily forward from its inception - first in the solar lights market, then progressing to solar and hybrid systems and recently breaking into large-scale solar PV systems with outputs by the thousands of kilowatts. The company has since added even more services, from energy audits to energy efficiency consultancy and more, to offer clients a full one-stop service organization for all their renewable energy and energy management needs.

Under Dato' Guntor Tobeng's leadership, Gading Kencana has grown from a company with a paidup capital of RM42, 000 in 1998 to RM17 million in 2014. Gading Kencana's achievements have also been recognized by numerous awards received including GreenTech Malaysia's Top 30 Catalysts award 2014; Frost & Sullivan Malaysia's Excellence Award for an Entrepreneurial Company 2013; and SME Corp Malaysia's Best Innovation Award for Engineering and Industrial Design 2013.
