Woo Jan Ning is a Partner in the Financial Services, Assurance practice at Ernst & Young PLT and serves as the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Assurance Lead. He brings more than 15 years of experience providing assurance and advisory services across the insurance, reinsurance, takaful and retakaful sectors, as well as broader financial institutions.

His audit and advisory portfolio spans insurers, deposit‑taking institutions, investment holding entities and unit trust funds. His technical experience includes extensive work in Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) implementations, financial audits, due diligence, internal audit and financial instruments reporting.

Jan Ning has co‑led major reviews under MFRS 4 and MFRS 7 for multiple banking and insurance groups, and has led the implementation and validation of MFRS 9 and MFRS 17 for insurers across Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam.

In the ESG space, he contributes as an Integrated Reporting reviewer, provides sustainability‑related training to boards, C‑suites and management, and supports organizations in strengthening governance around emerging sustainability expectations.

He has also led work with statutory bodies, including a bank‑run payout simulation for Malaysia’s deposit insurance authority, strengthening operational processes and response mechanisms.

Jan Ning frequently speaks at industry seminars and webinars on topics including MFRS/IFRS, financial instruments and ESG regulatory requirements. He is also a member of the Integrated Reporting Committee of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

He holds a Master of Financial Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Business (Accounting & Finance) from the University of Technology Sydney. He is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
