The Energy Transition demands fundamental changes to the services energy companies offer, the way grids are configured and operated, and the business models the industry is built around. At EY, we can help you adapt for today and reap the opportunities of tomorrow.

At this crucial crossroads, Future of Utilities: Energy Transition Summit 2023 brings together senior decision-makers from the full spectrum of the energy ecosystem to develop practical solutions for the current crisis and beyond.

Main EY activities during the summit:

  • EY Diversity, Equity and Inclusion panel:
The energy transition, with the deployment of new processes and technologies, is providing a unique opportunity also to address the topic of diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) and in particular the current gender imbalance in the energy sector. DE&I is thus increasingly seen as a critical enabler in the energy transition. We also know that the energy sector needs to recruit aggressively in the next decade to enable its workforce to keep pace with the energy transition. Thus, what can Utilities do to boost DE&I within their workforce? Different perspectives are important in a sector navigating several transformative factors, new ESG regulations and the rise of the empowered customer. During the Future of Utilities Energy Transition Summit we will ask four leaders in the industry about their vision on this topic. Janneke Hermes (CFO Gasunie), Danny Benima (CFO Stedin), Dyonne Rietveld (CEO Uniper) and Stephan Segbers (COO Essent) will share their views and answer your questions.
  • Workshop: ‘Digitalization of a network operator: the story of Stedin’

Digitalization as the codeword for tackling the complex challenges that the energy transition brings to the table. That’s the strategy of the network operator Stedin. Digitalization has its impacts along the entire energy value chain whereby digital technologies make energy systems more connected, intelligent, efficient, reliable, flexible and sustainable. However, according to Stedin, digitalization is not only the way forward to achieve their vision and goals, but it also needs to facilitate and engage their people, following an ‘humans at center’ approach. How is Stedin handling this? What is their strategy? And which role does EY play in supporting Stedin on this journey? Find out during our joint workshop at the ‘Future of Utilities Energy Transition Summit’ on Thursday March 15th.

Stedin contributes to a world full of new energy. For Stedin, the rapid changes in the energy system do not only mean that they have to expand and strengthen their infrastructure, but also that they need to make it smarter by digitizing their assets. During the workshop, Marco Louwes (Partner EY) will dive into the benefits and challenges of digitalization. And Partrick Maas, Manager Change Office at Stedin Groep, and Aart Jan Zwartscholten, Lead Digital Innovation & AI at Stedin Groep, will share their view and experiences with digitalization within Stedin.
