Joep van Leersum is a partner in EY Consulting in the Netherlands, focused both on energy transition and large-scale digital transformation in the utilities sector as well as solutions supporting new operational concepts in defense. His main client focus besides defense is with transmission and distribution system operators and partners providing solutions for new forms of contracts supporting the optimized usage of the grid.
At the start of his career, Joep completed the Royal Military Academy as a technical officer in the Airforce, subsequently fulfilling several technical roles in the core operation processes of the Air Force. After finishing an MSc. in business & IT Joep started working for commercial System Integrators, shifting his career towards project management of software implementations. Gradually building his sector expertise into the utilities industry combined with continued support for his home-base background of defense. moving into senior management positions providing smart metering and smart grid solutions for the larger utilities in northern Europe..
