Remco van der Zwan

EY Netherlands Partner Indirect Tax

Reliable. Calm. Well-informed. Gives clients fiscal peace of mind.

Remco van der Zwan primarily helps businesses and organizations with real estate to take control in fiscal matters, in particular regarding VAT and property transfer tax. He ensures that, for example, investments, new construction projects, transactions and divisions can be handled smoothly, with maximum fiscal certainty.

He studied fiscal law at the University of Leiden and has been working at EY since 1996. He represents EY in the field of Indirect Tax, before the tax authorities and the Finance Ministry. He is also a lecturer on the Real Estate and Tax Master’s course at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, and regularly speaks at tax events and training sessions.

“I sometimes say that I ensure fiscal peace of mind. Based on our advice, the client is able to make a calculated decision. I think it’s important to uphold reputations too, both of the client and EY. This involves seeing the big picture, achieving a good balance and being in control in fiscal matters. And remaining so.”

How Remco is building a better working world

“You won’t often find me in the same place, as I’m frequently visiting clients and traveling around the country. I really enjoy that because, as a VAT tax expert, you’re often the first to be involved in new developments. When a project like that gets into the newspapers, I always think with pride how good it is to have helped with it.
