Since taking the helm of OMS Group in 2015, Ronnie Lim has redefined the company’s mission, steering it from a project management firm into a globally integrated digital solutions provider. Under his leadership, OMS Group has installed over 38,000km of subsea cable systems and maintained an impressive 430,000km worldwide. This expansion includes pioneering interconnected managed services, focusing on cable landing stations (CLS) and backhaul infrastructure across Southeast Asia.

Ronnie’s vision extends beyond connectivity; he is committed to sustainability and innovation. OMS Group became the first independent contractor to commission new cable-laying vessels, designed to prioritize environmental considerations while meeting growing global connectivity demands. The company is also involved in groundbreaking initiatives like the SMART TAMTAM Cable System. This EU-funded project integrates environmental sensors into submarine cables to monitor climate change, provide early warnings for natural disasters, and support seismic hazard detection.

Additionally, OMS Group has played a crucial role in improving internet access in Samoa through the Tui Samoa submarine cable, funded by the World Bank. This cable provides faster, cheaper and more reliable internet to enhance service delivery and empowers Samoan businesses to engage in the global market.

Ronnie’s vision focuses on bridging the digital divide and connecting underserved regions through cutting-edge telecommunications infrastructure. Projects like the Natitua-Sud Cable installation in French Polynesia and the CLS in Morib, Malaysia, highlight OMS Group’s commitment to enabling economic growth, education and digital inclusion. As a neutral and independent digital solutions provider, OMS Group enables companies from diverse geographical regions to access its services without barriers, fostering global collaboration and inclusivity.

Technology has the transformative power to close the digital divide as it connects underserved regions, empowers communities and fosters equal access to opportunities in today’s digital economy.
