This Alert updates on online immigration procedures, which must be carried out through the organization’s electronic identification account on the VNeID application from 1 June 2026.
On 3 June 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Immigration Office issued a notice reminding agencies, companies and organizations employing foreign workers or sponsoring foreign nationals to urgently review and register for an organizational electronic identification account on the VNeID application.
Under the regulations, effective from 1 June 2026, organizations’ VNeID account serve as the official authentication method for conducting administrative procedures in the electronic environment. Failure to obtain a VNeID account may affect the processing of online immigration procedures, potentially causing disruptions to application processing, business operations, and the legitimate rights and interests of sponsored foreign individuals.
The procedures that may be affected include:
- Issuance and re-issuance of visas
- Extension of temporary residence
- Issuance and re-issuance of temporary residence cards
- Sponsorship procedures for foreign nationals’ entry, exit and residence in Vietnam
- Other related online public services
Accounts previously registered on the National Public Service Portal using digital signature (Token) are no longer accepted for online application submission. To ensure continuity of immigration-related administrative procedures, businesses are advised to take the following actions:
- Register an organizational electronic identification account on the VNeID system
- Assign and authorize responsible individuals to submit and manage applications in accordance with regulations via the organization’s VNeID account
The implementation of VNeID authentication and the consolidation of administrative procedures onto a unified digital platform represent a key milestone in Vietnam’s digital transformation agenda, while also supporting the efficient and compliant processing of online administrative procedures.
