Hong Kong, 28 May 2019
Acquisition serves as a key strategy to enhance EY’s offerings as an end-to-end digital service provider
EY announced today that Mtel, a digital design and implementation company based in Hong Kong, has joined EY in Greater China. The acquisition will boost the capabilities of the EY Greater China advisory practice and help deliver the full value of EY digital offerings.
Mtel is an award-winning digital enabler and mobile app developer, with approximately 170 employees across Greater China. The company boasts a strong brand presence in customer experience design and has been providing end-to-end digital solutions to key clients in the region since its establishment in 1999.
Albert Ng, China Chairman and Greater China Managing Partner at EY, said, “The joining of Mtel to the EY family will greatly enhance our digital strategy and innovation consulting capabilities, as well as deepen our digital design services. It will also open up new teaming opportunities with our existing Advisory and EY wavespace™ teams to provide integrated solutions to our clients.”
With the combined expertise and experience, EY and Mtel, as a team, are ready to provide the much sought-after digital advisory and mobile technology services to clients of different industries, including F&B, retail, banking and finance, telecommunications, property and public utilities.
“In the future, consumers will become creators. A bespoke brand experience with seamless service and frictionless engagement will be critical for any business in this digital era,” said Ng. “From digital transformation and deployment of emerging technologies to customer experience and mobile app design, the merging of EY and Mtel’s capabilities will further enable clients to navigate the transformative age and win in the market.”
With its presence in Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Taipei, Mtel has immense experience in the design and development of mobile, web, social applications, campaigns, digital installations and cloud platforms. Its exceptional work has been recognized by industry professionals and organizations with more than 50 awards in the past four years.
“Riding on the opportunities that the evolving market has presented, Mtel has grown tremendously in the last two decades,” said Willy Wong, CEO at Mtel. “We have served clients from various industries in the region and we are proud of our achievement to-date. Yet we are also looking forward to achieving greater success through the synergy we develop with the professional teams at EY.”
EY in Greater China set up a Digital Task Force across service lines and markets in early 2018. The Task Force successfully launched the EY wavespace™ flagship center in Shanghai, which was also the first in Asia-Pacific. Subsequently, EY wavespace™ was opened in Hong Kong, adding to the network of EY’s growth and innovation centers around the globe.
Earlier this year, EY has been recognized by Forrester Research as a leader in The Forrester Wave™: Global Digital Business Transformation Accelerators, Q1 2019. The report assessed global consultancies, technology integrators and digital agencies for their abilities to help CIOs select the right provider for their digital transformation initiatives. EY has been recognized for its integrated transformation capabilities and ability to bring a customer-insights-driven strategy to clients. Its strategy to integrate 20 EY wavespace™ innovation centers into client engagements also made the organization stand out as a business innovator.
