EY unveiled earlier the winners of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™  2022 Awards (EOY 2022 Awards). After a six-month selection process, 10 outstanding entrepreneurs have been recognized as the EOY 2022 Awards winners (See Appendix 1 and 2 for details). Hui Wang, Chairman & Founder of ACM Research (Shanghai), Inc., named winner for Chinese mainland and Steven Lam, Co-CEO and Executive Director, Co-founder of GOGOX, named winner for Hong Kong/Macau, China. The two winners are recognized for their entrepreneurial spirit, determination and innovation in steering industrial changes and enterprises transformation in the new era, bringing vitality to high-quality economic development.

The EOY 2022 Awards, themed “Unleash vitality; Embrace innovation”, aims to recognize outstanding business leaders who have made significant contributions to creating a collaborative, and seamless innovation ecosystem, and continue to create long-term value through co-creation, mutualism, and collaborative synergy, rejuvenating the vitality of Chinese companies and entrepreneurship in the new era.

A new blueprint for China’s development has been unfolded in 2022, marking the beginning of an exciting journey. As the global economic paradigm continues to shift and industry chains are swiftly restructured, enterprises need to adopt a new perspective to build a sustainable business. In China, a new development paradigm is fast taking shape, fueling high-quality growth as well as the emergence and application of innovative technologies. A strong foundation is laid for Chinese enterprises to leapfrog their growth into a much broader space.

Jack Chan, EY China Chairman and Greater China Regional Managing Partner, says: “This year’s EOY Awards winners stand out for their ability to seize opportunities and their courage to take on challenges in a complex market landscape. They are dedicated to achieving technological breakthroughs, strengthening their competitive edge and contributing to the country’s innovation-driven development strategy. They are the leaders in the industrial ecology that is driving integrated development as an integral part of China’s modern industrial system. These entrepreneurs have taken the social responsibility and practiced green development to achieve the “dual carbon” national goals. It is with the vitality, courage and perseverance that the entrepreneurs have responded to the mission of our time and set the entrepreneurial responsibilities in the new era.”

Since 2006, the EOY Awards program has centered on the new features and requirements of China’s development. Through this program, we examine the essence of entrepreneurship, encourage them to play a bigger part in the economic and social development.

This year’s winning entrepreneurs are mainly from the science and technology, medical science and health sectors, which displayed the vigorous and dynamic development of technology and health industries. Other top tier winning entrepreneurs represent the consumer products and retail, and high-end manufacturing industries. They have demonstrated the aspiration of traditional enterprises to explore innovation and sustainable development in the new era, and the determination in driving transformation and creating diversified values.

Janice Hu, China CEO at Credit Suisse, says: “We are delighted to be the platinum sponsor of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) awards for the past seven years. With the mixed global dynamics and heightened market volatility driven by geopolitical concerns and energy crises, I am glad to see that China's innovative capabilities and well-established consumers are proven to make the Chinese economy full of vitality. In this context, Chinese entrepreneurs have been well positioned to deliver their consistent energy and resilience under pressure and constantly explore how to create and share collaborative development effects, dedicated to leading innovative development in this era.

“As one of the international financial service provider pioneers in China, Credit Suisse has always actively provided financial support to Chinese businesses and has witnessed the journey of many Chinese entrepreneurs striving to make progress and innovation with strong resilience amid challenges. We build lasting value by serving our clients with care and entrepreneurial spirit. By collaborating with EY, we wish to further drive sustainable innovation and promote entrepreneurial spirit.”

Michael Bi, EOY 2022 Awards Program Co-chairman and EY Greater China Markets Managing Partner, says: “Under the theme of ‘Unleash vitality; Embrace innovation’, the EOY 2022 program identifies and honors those entrepreneurs who have made exceptional contributions to establishing a collaborative and seamless innovation ecosystem.
