Czech defence and the European context
In response to changes in the security environment, the Czech Republic is focusing on modernising its armed forces, strengthening defence capabilities, and developing its domestic defence industry. This industry is playing an increasingly important role not only at the national level, but also as part of a broader European defence ecosystem.
At the same time, the European Union is developing initiatives aimed at greater cooperation among Member States, supporting joint projects, advancing technological development, and strengthening strategic autonomy. In addition to investments in technology and production, topics such as efficient procurement, transparent project governance, and the involvement of private capital are also coming to the forefront.
The success of these efforts will depend on the ability to connect strategic objectives with practical implementation and to create an environment in which cooperation between the state, industry, and other partners functions in a long‑term and predictable manner.
