Sustainability Awards announce three new awards

The new awards focus on multiple areas of work large companies undertake within the ESG framework.

Danish companies are facing increased expectations regarding their sustainability efforts. These expectations come from various sources:  stricter legislation and directives demanding more detailed reporting, a business community calling for proactive initiatives and customers seeking increased accountability and transparency.

The Sustainability Awards aim to recognize companies that take a strategic, ambitious and innovative approach to find solutions and meet goals across the broad ESG agenda.

To reflect the ever-evolving nature of sustainability efforts, the awards are constantly updated. And this year, three new areas have been highlighted.

The 2024 Sustainability Awards will include:

• The Value Chain Award, which recognizes companies that manage their value chains responsibly and address sustainability challenges within them.
• The Environment Award honors companies making ambitious efforts to reduce their impact on vital environmental areas.
• The Climate Change Award celebrates companies that set ambitious and validated climate goals focusing on Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

In addition, the Special Prize for Long-Term Value Creation will be awarded, with a focus on diversity and inclusion.

"Since we introduced the Sustainability Awards in 2021, we have seen the work and ambitions of companies in the field of sustainability have only intensified. Businesses are taking greater responsibility for their operations, leading to more tangible results," says Brian Mikkelsen, CEO of Dansk Erhverv.

This progress also shows that being sustainable is now essential for businesses to succeed and add value. Jan C. Olsen, CEO of EY Denmark, shares: "The ESG covers a broad range of themes, offering many areas for each company to work on. This year, we have refreshed the award categories to focus on new, important aspects of large companies' sustainability initiatives."

The winners of the three new awards will be chosen by an independent jury consisting of Bo Øksnebjerg, Kristian Jensen, Lars Rasmussen, Linda Nielsen, Mie Krog, Stine Kirstein Junge and Torben Möger Pedersen. Alongside the three new awards, Dansk Erhverv and EY Denmark will also present the Special Prize for Long-Term Value Creation. This particular award cannot be applied for.

The Sustainability Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, 17 September 2024.
