The global M&A market has been extremely active with a reported value of over US$6.7t in the period from July 2020 to September 2021. Over US$4t of that was reported from January to September 2021, highlighting how busy 2021 has been. There also continues to be strong momentum in the deal market as a result of record levels of dry powder allocated to buyouts held by private equity and venture capital firms globally.
At the same time, there is cause for caution as a result of various global disruptions including labor challenges, supply chain disruption, geopolitical developments, changing consumer behavior, multiple tax reforms, ongoing COVID-19 concerns, as well as continuing developments in transparency and sustainability agendas.
