Sajjan Jindal started with a struggling steel mill and is now making a difference in renewable energy.

Sajjan Jindal turned a dream project into one of the greenest, most profitable and largest steel plants in the world. His multibillion-dollar conglomerate invests in steel, energy, infrastructure, cement, sports and paints, and he is making a fast transition to renewable energy.

Sajjan started his entrepreneurial journey in 1984 with a struggling steel mill. In 1997, he set up an integrated steel plant in Karnataka with an approach to be “daring in design but cautious in execution,” Today, JSW is India’s largest steel producer with 28.5 million tonnes per annum.

JSW Energy followed a similar trajectory and is now the most successful renewable energy company in India, with the largest portfolios of wind energy and hydro power plants under construction and the largest consumer-centric captive solar project in India.

Sajjan has consistently pursued growth through partnerships, innovation and sustainability while leveraging the most advanced technologies, including a plan to implement a fully integrated Smart Factory concept by fiscal year 2025. He personally governs JSW’s sustainability council and has set an ambitious target of reducing emissions by 42% by 2030.

Sajjan is preparing to launch a new generation of businesses focused on electronics, technology and alternative energy. JSW Foundation, the social development arm of JSW Group, continues to grow, improving the quality of life for over a million people through education, health care, skills development, sports and culture.

Focus on building a sustainable venture, one that far outlives you.
