Rodolphe Saadé is boldly transforming shipping and logistics to meet the environmental and social challenges of the future.
Rodolphe stepped into the chief executive and chairman roles for the global family business CMA CGM Group in 2017. He has since led the business through digital transformation and sustainable development, strengthened its maritime and logistics activity, and invested in both innovation and staff development.
By taking a risk on the purchase of ships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), he led the way for the shipping industry to use alternative fuels with confidence. CMA CGM Group now has a fleet of 44 LNG-powered ships, eliminating air pollution and reducing CO2 emissions.
Under his leadership, the group also created an air freight division and acquired port terminals to improve fluidity in its operations. Rodolphe also made the important decision not to use the northern route to protect marine life and to stop transporting plastic waste.
CMA CGM Group is heavily involved in the development of industry-specific technology. The group has created a state-of-the-art training and innovation center in Marseille called TANGRAM. This center is dedicated to sustainable shipping and logistics and welcomes a variety of collaborators to meet the challenges of performance, energy transition and global trade development.
Despite its size, CMA CGM Group still maintains its family values and looks to create social and economic value for its entire network. Rodolphe strongly believes success can’t be judged on financial performance alone, but on social, human and environmental impact as well.
