Guo Xiuling is the founder of Sandriver, a cashmere clothing and home textiles company based in Shanghai, China. Established in 2012, Sandriver employs more than 80 people and has a global presence in China, US, France, Germany and Australia.
Xiuling's entrepreneurial journey began with a simple mission: to showcase and cherish the finest Chinese cashmere and endangered traditional handicrafts. After studying textile engineering in Germany, she recognized the potential of world-class raw materials and intangible cultural heritage skills that needed modern expression. This realization led her to establish Sandriver.
As an "artistic cashmere evangelist," Xiuling promotes not just a commercial brand but a profound cultural practice. She has pioneered a model of "cultural heritage industrialization," leading her team to establish workshops that support rural revitalization. Her efforts have garnered her recognition as a "Shanghai Craftsman" and as the recipient of the Shanghai Quality Gold Award in 2019.
Xiuling envisions Sandriver as a cultural brand representing China's new luxury — a platform that creates shared value for employees, society and the environment. She aims to develop a "living, sustainable cultural ecosystem" that connects Inner Mongolia's pastures, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau workshops, the Shanghai design center and boutique stores in Paris. Through Sandriver, she aspires to bridge Eastern wisdom with modern global life, allowing the world to experience the depth and contemporary vitality of Chinese culture through the warmth of cashmere.
