Zaakir is a Partner in EY’s Forensic & Integrity Services (FIS) practice in Africa. He leads the Technology, Media & Telecommunications and Government & Infrastructure Sector as well as the Legal and Compliance Managed Services and Data Privacy and Cyber Response solutions for FIS in Africa.
Prior to EY, Zaakir was the Head of Corporate Investigations and Forensics; Head of Compliance; and Head of Data Privacy at the South African office of a large global law firm.
He currently also serves as the Deputy Chairperson of the Board of the Institute of Commercial Forensic Practitioners in South Africa.
Zaakir has extensive experience in forensic investigations, Anti-bribery and Corruption Compliance, fraud prevention and detection, anti-money laundering, regulatory compliance, data privacy as well as assisting clients with data breaches and cybercrime.
Zaakir is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and a Certificate in Advanced Corporate and Securities Law (both from the University of South Africa).
