Impact of Digital Technologies on Asset Servicers: Luxembourg Industry Benchmark

Luxembourg Asset Servicing Benchmarking Survey 2026

The Digitalization in Asset Servicing Benchmarking Survey is an annual Luxembourg‑based research study assessing the digital maturity of asset servicers across the globe and is now in its fourth edition.

The 2026 research shows that digital ambition among asset servicers is firmly established, but execution remains uneven. Firms increasingly recognize digital transformation as a core business priority, with client experience and scalable growth now key strategic objectives alongside efficiency. Overall digital maturity averages an “Advanced” level, reflecting meaningful progress since 2022.

AI adoption is accelerating and increasingly embedded into transformation roadmaps, particularly in core operations such as transfer agency, fund accounting and risk management. However, value remains constrained by fragmented data, legacy systems and predominantly project led delivery models, which limit scalability and slow concept to production speed. Digital productization has rebounded strongly, with most firms already offering or planning digital products, yet only a minority have achieved full product lifecycle ownership.

Governance and funding models are improving, with greater business ownership and longer term investment horizons, but board level engagement remains selective. The survey concludes that sustained competitive advantage will depend less on ambition and more on execution discipline, data foundations and the ability to move decisively from automation to AI enabled, autonomous operating models.
