Luxembourg, 6 February 2026 – EY Luxembourg brought together nearly 300 public and private sector leaders at its exclusive “Strategic Executive Dialogue & Firechat with Xavier Bettel”, hosted at its Kirchberg offices. The event reaffirmed EY’s commitment to fostering strategic dialogue at a time when Europe faces defining geopolitical choices.

The evening opened with introductory remarks highlighting the importance of creating meaningful spaces for decision-makers to exchange views as Europe navigates a rapidly evolving global landscape. The Strategic Executive Dialogue reflects EY’s commitment to supporting public debate and helping leaders understand the geopolitical, economic and technological forces shaping Europe’s future.

The first part of the evening featured an exclusive Firechat between:

  • Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade
  • Alban Aubrée, Country Managing Partner, EY Luxembourg

Introducing the conversation, Alban Aubrée emphasized the need for decisive leadership in times of geopolitical uncertainty, inviting the Deputy Prime Minister to share his perspective.

Xavier Bettel opened with a powerful statement that set the tone for the rest of the evening:

He continued:

The second part of the event featured a prestigious international panel moderated by Thierry Labro, Editor in Chief of Paperjam:

  • Xavier Bettel
  • Rohan Malik, UK&I Managing Partner, Government & Infrastructure, EY
  • Dominique Perron, EY Global Leader for the United Nations and Related Agencies

For 45 minutes, the panel explored essential topics including Europe’s competitiveness in a fragmented global landscape, the evolving limits and future of multilateralism, cybersecurity and economic resilience, digital and security sovereignty, or even Luxembourg’s strategic role in European digital infrastructure.

Dominique Perron stated that: “We are trying to solve 21st century problems with 20th century tools.” 

Rohan Malik highlighted comparative dynamics between Europe and the United Kingdom.

Xavier Bettel insisted on the importance of unity in global power relations: “When Europe is united, we are stronger. If you’re weak, it eats you.”
