What EY teams can do for you
Climate resilience is no longer solely an environmental issue. It is increasingly a business, investment and competitiveness priority. Organizations face intensifying physical climate impacts alongside energy security concerns, supply chain disruptions, nature and biodiversity loss, and geopolitical uncertainty.
The challenge is particularly acute in Southeast Asia. Three of the world’s 20 most climate-vulnerable countries are in the region1 while unchecked climate change could lead to the displacement of an estimated 87 million people in its high-flood-risk areas.2
While many organizations have set ambitious climate commitments, they face challenges in translating them into investable programs, scalable solutions and measurable outcomes.
The EY Climate Resilience Center of Excellence (CoE) supports organizations whose assets, operations, supply chains, communities or investment decisions are exposed to climate, energy or nature-related risks. It helps organizations strengthen resilience, accelerate implementation and capture opportunities arising from the transition to a greener economy. Providing a practical pathway from ambition to execution, the CoE can help organizations in these key areas:
- Assess and prioritize material risks and opportunities
- Develop programs, strategies and targeted pathways
- Align policies, financing, technology and implementation efforts
- Prepare business cases and investable project pipelines
- Support implementation, governance and performance tracking
Together, these actions can help companies strengthen asset and operational resilience, improve energy efficiency and system reliability, mobilize sustainable finance and build the skills, capabilities and collaborations needed to support long-term resilience across organizations and communities.
Support can be tailored to different levels of climate resilience maturity. Larger organizations may require enterprise-wide transition or investment programs. Smaller enterprises may benefit from sector-based initiatives, shared tools, capacity-building programs, value chain engagement or projects supported by grants.
Building resilience across energy, climate and nature
The CoE brings together multidisciplinary knowledge, technical assistance and ecosystem collaboration to help businesses create practical pathways for action. It combines EY teams’ energy, climate and nature-related methodologies, sector knowledge, data-driven analytics and technology-enabled capabilities across three climate resilience themes.
Energy resilience
This involves strengthening energy security through renewable energy deployment, grid modernization, regional interconnections and energy efficiency while supporting decarbonization and economic competitiveness.
Climate adaptation
Another area is building resilience to physical climate risks, including flooding, rising sea levels, extreme weather and urban vulnerability, through infrastructure investment, adaptation planning and innovative financing.
Nature and biodiversity
This involves using nature-based solutions, ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation to reduce climate vulnerabilities, strengthen livelihoods and support long-term economic resilience.
The interconnected enablers of sustainable finance, carbon markets, and social impact and inclusion underpin the three climate resilience themes. Together, they help mobilize investment and financing for the implementation of climate resilience projects, create financial incentives that translate environmental outcomes into economic value and promote equitable outcomes, community resilience and a just transition.
Collaborating to deliver lasting outcomes
Climate resilience challenges cannot be addressed by any organization in isolation. EY teams bring together governments, businesses, investors, academia, technology providers, multilateral institutions and not-for-profit organizations to address shared priorities. This collaborative approach helps organizations move beyond strategy toward implementation, investment mobilization and scalable impact — strengthening resilience while creating long-term business, economic and societal value.
