2026 marks 15 years of the EY Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards and 29 years since the programme's inception as the Excellence in Financial Reporting Awards.

The EY Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards aims to encourage and benchmark the quality of integrated reports published by listed companies in South Africa. For more than 15 years, the survey has promoted excellence in integrated reporting and supports the continuous improvement of reporting practices to meet the evolving information needs of investors and other stakeholders.

As reporting expectations continue to evolve, organisations are increasingly using technology and artificial intelligence to enhance transparency, improve data quality and strengthen decision-making. Integrated reporting remains a critical tool for communicating how organisations create long-term value and navigate an increasingly complex business environment.

AI can process the data. Value comes from the human judgement behind it.

Meet the Judges

Since 2010, all companies with a primary listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) have been required to produce an integrated report in line with the King codes. Those companies with a secondary listing on the JSE are not required to produce an integrated report. EY has commissioned the Excellence in Integrated Reporting survey for the last 15 years in order to encourage excellence in the quality of integrated reporting to investors and other stakeholders by South Africa’s top companies.

We are joined on this critical journey by professors at the University of Cape Town, as we track and evaluate the efforts by the Top 100 JSE-listed companies to explain the value that they create over the short, medium, and long term. This survey is made possible by the continued involvement and dedicated efforts of our adjudicators:

Mark Graham
Emeritus Associate Professor
Graduate School of Business, UCT

Alex Watson
Emeritus Professor
College of Accounting, UCT
Independent non-executive director

Goolam Modack
Associate Professor

We congratulate all the entities included in the Top 10 for their outstanding reports. We commend the entities that achieved the rankings of “Excellent” and “Good” for their efforts and the examples they have set.
