Last 15 June, 2023, the Brazilian government approved a Provisional Measure which officially changes Brazil’s transfer pricing (TP) rules to align them with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) framework. The new rules will be obligatory from 1 January 2024; however, taxpayers may elect to apply them retroactively as from 1 January 2023.
The increasing popularity of nearshoring has led to a significant number of relocations of supply chains into and through Mexico. As the domestic manufacturing industry grips with the new tax challenges and opportunities being presented by this trend, companies from around the world are struggling to find the optimal way of leveraging the strategic geopolitical location, competitive labor costs and manufacturing special tax regimes that Mexico has to offer.
What are the main TP concerns for Japanese multinationals arising from the new Brazilian TP regulations? What does the manufacturing tax regime offer to Japanese entities amidst the increasing popularity of nearshoring in Mexico? What are the next steps to take?
To answer those and other questions, EY Japan in collaboration with its Latin American Desk, EY Brazilian Transfer Pricing professionals and EY Mexico tax experts, invites you on 1 November to the Seminar “Latin American tax updates - Key updates on Brazilian Transfer Pricing Regulations and Mexico’s manufacturer tax regime in the context of the Nearshoring trend”
