EY's Japanese member firms will move into a new office in Tokyo Midtown Hibiya beginning from the end of February to September. The grand opening of the new EY Japan office is planned for 27 November.

We will provide our clients the highest quality and highly value-added services from our new Tokyo Office with creative innovations and EY professionals' deep insight and extensive experiences.

The concept for the new office is part of the EY@Work workplace transformation program, a global initiative of EY, which creates a flexible work environment through the latest technology, innovative designs and concept of "activity based working" (Note 1). The office will also feature an EY wavespace™ (Note 2), a cutting-edge digital technology lab.

The design concept for the office is "Tokyo Connection": Japan, Tokyo and connections Tokyo's neighborhoods. The office will express a distinctively Japanese character befitting its role as the head office of EY in Japan. For example, each of the floors will be divided into color schemes matching the four seasons of Japan. The design also maintains a strong awareness of the connections to Tokyo, with each of the floors showcasing a different Tokyo-related theme, incorporating graphics and art throughout the office.

(Note 1) Activity-based working
Activity-based working (ABW) is an initiative for promoting efficient and effective work styles by encouraging EY partners and staff to select the most suitable work space from a variety of workplace settings, without allocating fixed desks or designated rooms. The new EY Tokyo office will incorporate a diverse lineup of ABW-aligned working spaces. For example, Focus Areas are designed for those who want to concentrate on work. Just-In-Time (JIT) rooms are spaces designed for individuals joining teleconference calls via Skype or phone. Collaboration Areas are spaces for invigorating active discussions between members. The Hub, where large TV screens are installed, is a cafeteria-style large collaboration space. Furthermore, a diverse mix of furniture tailored to various work purposes will be installed in every Area, including height-adjustable lift-up desks and large tables featuring an EY original design that can be used for collaborative work. With ABW, EY Japan will push ahead with efficient and effective work styles.
