Izumi Umezawa is the EY Japan Data Protection Leader for all sectors, with a focus on Technology and Life Sciences. Since joining the firm he has provided assurance services for IT control and worked in advisory service roles for information security.
He has particular experience in supporting global corporations to establish and improve management systems for data in collaboration with local audit authorities. He has also provided direction on corporate risk management and internal control as an accounting auditor.
He is a CPA and has served on multiple committees for the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA). He is currently refining his know-how as a data protection specialist while integrating the insights he brings to this role from his other qualifications, including as a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
