Ernst & Young Australia (EY) has appointed Nikki Bentley, one of Australia’s leading lawyers in investment funds and financial services regulation, as a partner in its rapidly growing Oceania financial services law team.
With over 20 years’ experience in financial services law in Australia and overseas, Nikki is a funds and investment management professional with a particular focus on alternative investments.
EY Oceania wealth and asset management leader, Antoinette Elias said, “We are delighted to have Nikki join the expanding EY financial services law team. Her appointment is yet another example of the ongoing EY commitment to provide quality legal, tax and advisory services to our clients in the financial services sector.”
Ernst & Young Australia financial services law partner, Michelle Segaert said, “In just two years, the EY Oceania financial services law team has gone from strength to strength, with the team recently recognised as finalists in the Banking and Finance Team of the Year category at the 2019 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards.”
“Nikki’s skills and experience are a welcome addition to the team, complementing and adding further depth to EY financial legal services and enhancing service offerings to clients,” Ms Segaert said.
Nikki has previously advised many leading Australian and global financial services clients on a wide range of corporate, commercial and regulatory issues facing their businesses including, advising them on entering the Australian market, strategic investments and material outsourcing arrangements. Nikki also regularly advises on onshore and offshore fund establishment, product disclosure, distribution and investment management.

Nikki is regularly involved in industry and Treasury discussions on regulatory reforms impacting the Australian financial services industry. She is a regular speaker at conferences, both locally and overseas, on key regulatory issues impacting the Australian funds management industry. Nikki is on the Executive Committee and Chair of the Regulatory Committee of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Australia, as well as being a member of the Australian committee for100 Women in Finance.
