Changes to the Legislation for Value Tickets and Vacation Vouchers
Legislation Details:Law no. 87/2024 amends and supplements Law no. 165/2018 regarding value tickets and the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 8/2009 regarding vacation vouchers.
Effective Date: The changes will be applicable in 30 days from publication in the Official Gazette, Part I no. 338 from April 11, 2024.
Key Points of the Amendments:
- Definition of Electronic Support:
- The electronic support is defined as being any physical device or virtual instrument usable by beneficiaries for transactions with value tickets / for payment operations (including online payments in case of vacation vouchers).
- Method of issuing value tickets, including vacation vouchers:
- Employers will establish, in agreement with trade unions or employee representatives, the method of issuance of value tickets/vacation vouchers.
- Employees may request the issuance of the physical device for value tickets/vacation vouchers, even if the employer has opted for exclusive virtual instrument.
- Employers will establish, in agreement with trade unions or employee representatives, the method of issuance of value tickets/vacation vouchers.
Necessary Actions:
Affected parties should familiarize themselves with the new legal requirements and prepare to comply with them by the effective date.
