The decision regarding the establishment, organization, and responsibilities of the Committee for the Admission and Regulation of Foreigners' Residence in Romania

On 26th of May 2025, a decision was published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I, No. 490, about setting up, organizing, and defining the duties of the Committee for the Admission and Regulation of Foreigners' Residence in Romania. This committee has the following main tasks:

  • Proposal of admission and residence policies.
  • Improvement of administrative processes through digitalization.
  • Monitoring migration flows.
  • Initiation of bilateral agreements for labor regulation.
  • Prevention of illegal migration and labor exploitation.

The establishment of this Committee could represent a significant step in regulating the admission process for foreign citizens. Due to its consultative nature and the involvement of various ministries, it is anticipated that it will contribute to the creation of a clearer and more accessible legal framework, which will facilitate the integration of foreigners into Romanian society.

Additionally, the simplification and digitalization of administrative procedures could reduce bureaucracy, which, in turn, would allow for faster hiring and more efficient adaptation of foreigners to the labor market.

We will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as necessary.
