From disruption to redesign: tax and operating model choices in an era of supply chain fragmentation

Geopolitical tensions are redrawing trade routes, while the current commodity and energy crisis is keeping prices volatile. Together, they are turning energy security and supplier access into hard constraints on growth. For businesses headquartered and operating in ASEAN region, the question is no longer whether to diversify, but how quickly they can reconfigure where they produce, how they source and how they route value — without creating tax leakage, compliance exposure or stranded incentives.

This panel will explore how organizations are moving from efficiency-led designs to operating models built for resilience and optionality: multi-sourcing, regional footprints and more localized supply chains. Panelists will also discuss what tax and finance functions must do differently to keep pace — stress-testing vulnerabilities, comparing location and incentive trade-offs, and embedding tax considerations into continuous reconfiguration rather than one-off restructures.
