KYIV, January 10, 2024. EY Ukraine People Advisory Services, together with ACMP Ukraine (Association of Change Management Professionals), conducted a survey on the state of change management in Ukraine.
The survey highlights the changes that have taken place in companies and the difficulties in implementing them, as well as identifies the approaches and methodologies of change management used in the respondents' companies. This information is important for understanding current trends in business change management and creating effective strategies to overcome challenges.
The survey respondents include 137 companies from various industries. About 45% of the respondents are owners, CEOs or top managers, and another 34% are heads of departments. The survey was conducted in September 2023.
All survey respondents (100%) said that their companies have undergone significant changes over the past 3 years that have affected the way employees work, with 44% saying that these changes have fully achieved the expected results.
According to the survey, the most popular changes that took place in companies after February 24, 2022 were as follows:
- 65% of respondents indicated that there were changes in work formats (remote, hybrid);
- according to 56% of respondents, a new organizational structure was introduced;
- 56% of respondents revised HR policies and practices in their companies.
It is important to note that the changes introduced after February 24, 2022, differ from previous years. Prior to February 24, 2022, the top three most popular changes included: revision of work formats, implementation of new standards, and introduction of the latest IT systems and technologies.
Among the main difficulties in implementing changes, respondents mentioned the lack/unavailability of resources (49% of respondents), inconsistent communications (46% of respondents) and lack of a systematic approach to change management (40% of respondents). At the same time, only 40% of respondents say that they apply change management approaches, and 34% do not even have a separate change management role in their organization.
"Companies that consciously and consistently apply change management approaches tend to go through the transformation process more successfully and achieve better results. Unfortunately, the practice of applying these approaches in Ukraine is not yet widespread enough," – comments Olga Gorbanovska, People Advisory Services Leader, EY Ukraine.
EY Ukraine People Advisory Services together with ACMP Ukraine are planning a series of events to present the results of the study.
