Extended Temporary Protection for Ukrainians Until March 2025
On 21 February 2024, the Government of the Slovak Republic approved the extension of the validity of the temporary protection status for persons fleeing the war in Ukraine. The temporary protection will thus be available until 4 March 2025.
This extension follows the decision made by the Council of the EU on 19 October 2023, in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The aim is to continue to provide emergency accommodation, basic healthcare, access to the labor market and the school system for the Ukrainian civilian population seeking refuge in the EU.
Additionally, the government has ratified new legislation addressing the provision of a contribution towards the accommodation of displaced persons.
