Introduction of two-factor authentication in the personal account of the National Certification Authority of the RK

The National Certification Authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NCA RK) has implemented two-factor authentication (2FA) for logging into its personal account: in addition to the digital signature (EDS) and the key password, an additional confirmation is required - either a one-time SMS code sent to the number registered in the Mobile Citizens Database (MCD) of the RK, or a code from the digital "Identity Document" available in the eGov Mobile application. The mechanism does not apply to non-residents of the RK, as they do not have a number registered in the MCD. The purpose of the new measure is to protect user accounts from unauthorised access. It is important to ensure that the mobile phone number registered in the MCD is up to date -otherwise, there is a risk of losing access to state e-services.
