The EY Klimathon is a half-day event targeted towards full-time tertiary education students to promote and encourage a sustainability-oriented mindset. The aim of the challenge is the creation of a sustainability solution idea revolving around emerging technology and open data in a specific industry. The idea will then be presented during the event in a team of 2-3 people.

The challenge doesn’t require any form of implementation (including coding, prototypes, etc…). However, you are free to use any tool or technique you prefer to demonstrate your approach and how you would address the problem in a practical way. Challenge guidelines and some resources are provided once registered.

How It Works
  • Register your team of 2-3 students. Once registered you will receive detailed guidelines on how to tackle the challenge
  • Research the sustainability, data and technology areas using the provided resources
  • Fabricate a sustainability idea involving an Emerging Technology (such as Blockchain or Internet of Things), Open Data (such as crop satellite imagery or global health data) and an Industry where it will be used (such as Agriculture or Transport)
  • Submit the idea form by the 15th November, providing a short description of the idea that you are working on
  • Discuss and finalise your idea during the event on the 18th November, whilst receiving feedback and guidance from industry experts
  • Present the idea describing the ‘who’, ‘how’, ‘where’, funding and impact of your solution
