Private Tax student opportunities

In our Private Tax team, you’ll help clients with their comprehensive domestic and cross-border tax and accounting services while you build your career.

What is Private Tax?

As part of the team, you’ll work with high-net-worth individuals and their related entities to help manage domestic and global challenges by developing customised strategies to meet their financial goals. You’ll have the choice of specialising in family tax services (tax advice and compliance services to high wealth individuals, structuring for asset protection, estate planning and tax efficiency), business tax (tax advice and compliance for privately owned operating businesses, including family enterprises and private equity portfolio companies).
You’ll also provide business services (CFO support services, including financial statement preparation, management accounting and reporting for entrepreneurial businesses) and family office services (outsourced services for high wealth family groups, including bookkeeping, bill paying, investment reporting, family governance and succession planning).
 

What could you be doing?

  • Work on a variety of EY clients from small businesses to multinational corporations
  • Meet with clients to help with income tax planning domestically and across multiple jurisdictions
  • Prepare financial accounts and tax returns for clients and entities
  • Correspond with revenue authorities to disclose, support and/or negotiate a client’s tax position
  • Assist clients with tax effective structures for business and investments to protect assets and estates
  • Advise clients on how to develop and help implement charitable strategies

Your career journey in Private Tax

As a graduate, you’ll be part of our 12-month graduate development programme that has been developed for graduates in all service lines, and is focused on connection, learning and celebration.

The programme will provide you with the opportunity to network with your peers from other service lines and geographies. Running in parallel to your technical learning, you will develop leadership skills to become a successful graduate, and as you grow as a transformative leader.

As a Private Tax graduate, you’ll take part in:-

  • Monthly tax and financial reporting technical updates
  • Bimonthly technology updates (with external suppliers, i.e., Xero, Spotlight Reporting, Tax management)
  • EY Tax Diploma

As a intern, after our company induction, you’ll start developing an understanding of how our Private Tax teams work and will be ready to work alongside teams on real client projects. You’ll meet other new interns from your office.

Your buddy and your counsellor will help you learn your way around the organisation, set your goals and plan your development while you’re here. You'll be well looked after with ongoing learning throughout the Intern Programme with sessions facilitated by our Learning and Development team, Campus Recruitment team and service line specific training. The Intern Programme is a great way to gain valuable audit experience, skills and networks to start building your career.
