David Larocca, EY Region Managing Partner and CEO, Oceania, today welcomed the announcement of 90 new partners to the Australian EY partnership (“EY Australia”) in the 2022 financial year.
This number is up from 70 in 2021 and includes 48 promotions to partner and 42 direct appointments (appointed through the 2022 financial year).
The new partners span a broad range of EY services - 17 from our market leading Assurance practice including three from our fast growing Climate Change and Sustainability practice, 33 from the firm’s rapidly growing Consulting practice, 19 from Tax and Law, and 21 from the Strategy and Transactions business, including 8 into EY Port Jackson Partners, (6 direct appointments and our first two promotions to the partnership).
45% of the newly promoted partners and 42% of the direct appointments are female, raising the overall percentage of female partners in the firm to 31%.
The full Australian partnership now sits at 709, and all EY Australian partners are equity partners.
David Larocca said “I am delighted to announce this new cohort of partners. The addition of 90 partners in this year, up from 70 in 2021 demonstrates the continued strong demand for our services as we focus on delivering long term value for our clients, people and society. It’s also very pleasing to have welcomed six new partners this year through our acquisitions of Cadence Australia Pty Ltd, Black Dot Consulting Pty Ltd and Axiom Forensics Pty Ltd.”
“All are outstanding people, with great values who will make a significant contribution to the firm, our clients and our people over many years to come.”
“As we emerge from COVID, and notwithstanding various geo-political and economic headwinds, we are seeing continued strong demand for our services particularly as they look to digitally transform their businesses; to understand, meet and exceed their ESG obligations, execute on transformative transactions; to tackle skills and talent challenges and receive high quality, technology-enabled, audit and assurance services. The number of partners appointed into EY Port Jackson Partners is also a very pleasing testament to our clients’ demand for world class strategy advice.”
“I am proud of the progress we continue to make to build a diverse partnership and inclusive firm. There is more work to be done but we have a strong foundation and great momentum.”
EY also appointed 24 Associate Partners in 2022, across its Assurance, Consulting, Tax and Strategy and Transactions service lines. Thirty-eight percent of the new Associate Partners are women. “Our new associate partners are an extremely talented group of individuals, providing vital services to our clients and we are delighted to acknowledge the value they bring”, said Mr Larocca.
“Our people are our greatest asset as a firm and I look forward to working with each and every one of our new partners and associate partners as we help our clients navigate their way through the extraordinary change that we are seeing as our part of the world starts to emerge from the COVID 19 pandemic,” Mr Larocca concluded.
In total, EY appointed 103 new partners across Oceania in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
